Visitors to Bridgestone’s stand at this weekend’s Truckfest North West show will be able to meet a host of stars and pick up some vital tips on road safety, while also helping raise money for impoverished African youngsters.
Joining expert technicians from the tyre manufacturer’s First Stop network of independent tyre dealerships will be four household names, and a past master that achieved world domination.
Proud scouser and Big Brother star Mikey and cult Radio 2 presenter Sally ‘Traffic’ Boazman are available for autographs on Saturday, while on Sunday, Coronation Street hunk Richard Fleeshman and Big Brother’s “little princess” Nikki Grahame will take to the stand.
They will share the limelight with a stunning replica of the Ferrari Formula One racing car that guided Michael Schumacher to his last World Championship title.
Visitors will have the rare opportunity to have their picture taken with the car, in return for a charitable donation. All proceeds will support the Zambia Project, which provides education, accommodation and amenities for young people living in the Lusaka region of Zambia.
There is also a chance to follow in Schumacher’s footsteps and test your skills as a budding F1 driver in a state-of-the-art racing simulator.
The Bridgestone stand is supported by Tyrecraft, Bootle; Tyresave, St Helens; Tyreworld, Widnes; Pemberton Tyres, Wigan; and Ashton Tyre & Exhaust, Ashton-in-Makerfield.
The five First Stop dealerships are promoting the comprehensive range of services they offer North West motorists. They will also raise awareness of Bridgestone’s Think Before You Drive road safety campaign, which aims to reduce deaths on the region’s roads by educating people about the importance of regularly checking the condition of their tyres.
“This is the second year running we’ve attended Truckfest, and if visitor numbers are anywhere near as good as last year then we’re in for a cracking couple of days,” said Andy Bucknall, Bridgestone business development manager for the North West.
“There’s something for everyone at the First Stop stand. You’ve got the glamour of our special guest celebrities and Ferrari F1 car, fun in the form of the racing simulator, and an important safety message in Think Before You Drive. And on top of that, every penny people contribute will support an extremely worthwhile cause. It would be fantastic if we could top last year’s £1,500 total.”
The Bridgestone First Stop activities can be found at stand D5 at Truckfest Northwest, at Haydock Racecourse this Saturday and Sunday.
